Dr. Green Honored At Annual SPE Meeting

Don W. Green is the Dean E. Ackers professor of chemical and petroleum engineering at the University of Kansas, where he has been on the faculty since 1964. He was chairperson of the department during 1970-74 and 1996-2000. Green also served as codirector of the Tertiary Oil Recovery Project (TORP) during 1974-2007.

Torp is a state-funded research program that carries out improved oil recovery research, development, and technology transfer activities focused on independent oil operators in Kansas. Before joinging the University of Kansas, he worked 2 years for Continental Oil as a reserach engineer. Green has won numberous teaching awards at the university, including the Chancellor's Club Career Teaching Award. He has authored or coauthored several SPE papers and is coauthor, with G. Paul Willhite, of the book Enhanced Oil Recovery published by SPE. Green earned a BS degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa and both MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
