Dr. Paul Willhite elected to the National Academy of Engineering
The
department is delighted to announce that our colleague Dr. Paul Willhite
has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering! Very few
engineers are recognized by election to this prestigious body.
The
election citation for Dr. Willhite is "for research, technology, and
education outreach in tertiary oil-recovery processes".
Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest
professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Academy membership
honors those who have made outstanding contributions to engineering
research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate,
significant contributions to the engineering literature and to the
pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major
advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or
developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education. It
is understood that the KU School of Engineering is the only academic
institution in Kansas that has members of the National Academy of
Engineering on the faculty.
